Education is often referred to as the great equalizer: It can open the door to jobs, resources, and skills that help a person not only survive, but thrive. This is why access to education is a globally-recognized solution to poverty. Education helps to remedy many of the other issues that can keep people, families, and even whole communities vulnerable to the cycle of poverty.
At its core, education supports a child’s developing social, emotional, cognitive, and communication skills. They also gain knowledge and skills, and often at a higher level than those who don’t attend school. They can then use these skills to earn higher incomes and build successful lives.

Project SmartBox is a care box ministry of ArtServe International. We provide educational resources, creative supplies, hygiene items, and Gospel material throughout the school year for children and teens in need.
What we do is much like Operation Christmas Child but you don’t have to prepare a box that takes months to arrive and we deliver as needed, not just for the holidays.
We partner with ministries in-field and believe in empowering local ministry leaders as they serve their own communities. Each SmartBox is supplied with required and practical items that are purchased in-country, thereby fueling the local economy.
Our mission is to provide children living in low-income areas with educational resources that will empower them to study continually, creative supplies to inspire their hearts to dream beyond their poverty, hygiene items for self care, and Gospel material that will encourage faith, hope, and love. Every SmartBox contains a Gospel message for kids!
Families living in poverty struggle to send their children to school simply because they're not able to afford all the required school supplies or have other financial obligations. In the countries we serve, you can find such families with their children in the streets asking for money — causing generational poverty.
